jazzsensei Posted November 14, 2011 Share #21 Â Posted November 14, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I bought the black X1 last April, to use as a lightweight travel compact in place of my Canon 5D Mk II and wrist straining L lenses. Beautiful retro design had me hooked. Yes, I too went out and bought a full sized M9-P 2 months ago, manual focus and all. Happy, but poorer!
Advertisement Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Hi jazzsensei, Take a look here Is the Leica X1 the gateway drug?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Bill Allsopp Posted November 14, 2011 Share #22 Â Posted November 14, 2011 I was lured in by the D-Lux 5, the "toy" camera was so good I just had to buy the real thing.
wda Posted November 14, 2011 Share #23  Posted November 14, 2011 Shot a M camera for 30 years and sold it. Now I very happily use the X1 with incredible results. I am very happy with its incredible IQ. M9 seems very heavy to me and M lenses are reaching fetish prices.  No plans at all to re-enter M-land.  In that sense, I now consider the X camera to be rehab, not a gateway.  Thankyasomuch!  What pleasing satisfaction! Incredible results and an unstretched purse.

brill64 Posted November 22, 2011 Share #26 Â Posted November 22, 2011 it seems that most bought a smaller one and added or upgraded to a bigger one with only one having a bigger one and trading it in for a smaller one..
