DMR out of the closet

So I've been using the M8 alot since November, and the DMR has been mostly sitting patiently in the closet, sad but proud, biding its time. Well this weekend I picked it up, took it outside, and tested out some new (to me) flash equipment (thanks GM!). What a great camera this is! Well, I knew that, but I had sort of forgotten how nice it is to use the DMR, and was instantly reminded myself how great the images from the R-lenses and DMR are.

I don't have the eloquence to describe how the images are different from the also great M8 images, but there is a difference. And the ergonomics are obviously different.

I'm not sure what purpose it would serve at this point, but I don't think I ever saw what I had anticipated coming from somewhere- a detailed comparison of DMR vs M8. I don't suppose that will ever happen now. :(

LOL i would still like to do it but man is it time consuming plus the M8 just needs a few more tweaks. The Profoto's a very nice indeed, glad you like them

yes, I suppose if the M8 had come out of the gate with fewer issues, a comparison might have happened, but the window of "excitement" for that to happen may have passed. But when 1.1 for the M8 is out and the profiles are stabilized, I think some comparisons would be fun and useful.

I got the Acute 1200 with Acute D4 heads from Guy. Just set them up for the first time this weekend. Guy has probably moved on to something bigger and better LOL.

(Psst, BTW, they're not "flash equipment", they're Strobes. "Flash" is the whimpy little light you put in the hot shoe of the camera. : -)

Can I just call them big flashcubes? :) And yes they are terrific, and the DMR likes them.

PS. Call me Allen.

Congrats Osera. Profoto rocks. (Psst, BTW, they're not "flash equipment", they're Strobes. "Flash" is the whimpy little light you put in the hot shoe of the camera. : -)

Move up to the D4 Guy?

Amazing generator.

God, I love Strobe stuff.

Actually i kept 1 set of Acute and bought a small package of Dynalite twinkles for more location lights , there little 400 watt mono's that are actually quite nice from Dynalite. i can get 4 mono's in one Lowe pro Roller 2 which is pretty small. There great for the quickie jobs and also serve as great kick lights for the Profoto's , so i mixed it up a little, i like different kinds of options like this. Marc i have noticed in a major way a lot less light needed for digital

which seems to make no sense at all but i keep dialing everything down
