Anyone have the 12mm ? Sounds like it has a lot vignetting, but the M8 should cut a lot of it from the edges. Would love to see some samples.

Actually on a camera like the R-D1, for example, the 15 vignettes much more than the 12. I haven't done the side by side comparisons but neither the 15 nor the 12 vignette heavily on the M8.

Cheers,

Sean

I just did some tests with my Voitlander 15mm and it seems the sharpest between f5.6 and f8, as the chart posted on the previous page suggests. That is if I am reading the chart correctly.

I also did a few test shots to figure out where six feet is on the focus scale. I find it is hard to get sharp people pictures with this lens because you don't have rangefinder coupling. I now know that on my lens, six feet is just on the left edge of the 2m mark. I will see if this knowledge helps any in real life when I go on vacation this week and get to do some shooting with it.

Can you put an IR cit filter on this lense?

Ken

Yes, a 39mm filter will fit just inside the hood. You will have to figure out a way to attach it. It also hits the front element.

If you put the 39mm filter on upside down, it will clear the front element. I took a 39mm retaining ring off an old filter and glued it to the front trim ring of the 15mm. I then thread the 486 filter on upside down. It still filters the IR in this orientation.

I have this lens and it is very nice. I did some test shots against the WATE at 16mm and it performs very well. The WATE is sharper at the edges but the modulation of the colours are better ( for me) with the 15 CV. And the sharpness can easily be fixed with tools like PS smart sharpen.

The WATE is an allrounder. For example, the WATE at 21 against the Leica 2.8/21 asph. shows again some flatness. The 2.8/21 asph. is a joy to use. Outstanding performance and perfect modulation (more 3D like) like the Leica 1.4/35 asph. and the 2/75 asph.

So in my eyes the 15 CV is a must have. It performs well at infinity and at short distances with hyperfocal focussing technique. The slightly lesser sharpness against the Leica lens can easily be fixed. It is a real bargain.
