pauledell Posted August 26, 2011 Share #2 Posted August 26, 2011 Howard, A fine shot of the railroad ride. The track looks quite temporary and by its construction, would make me a little nervous to ride on it. Excellent composition, tones and sharpness. }{B Posted August 26, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted August 26, 2011 Thanks. This is from the first roll of TriX I've ever used and to be honest I prefer the look of Ilford XP2. The fairground ride was temporary as it was set up just for the afternoon and the destinations are local towns in case anyone is wondering.
andybarton Posted August 26, 2011 Share #4 Posted August 26, 2011 Persevere with Tri-X, it's got 100x more character than any C41 b&w film, IMHO. There's a reason why it is THE classic b&w film.
}{B Posted August 27, 2011 Author Share #5 Posted August 27, 2011 I was expecting TriX to be more grainy and perhaps I need to find subjects that best suit this look. XP2 is easy to scan and has a very smooth look compared this first roll of TriX. I bought two rolls to try so I've still got one to use. Perhaps I'll take a trip to Manchester and try a bit of street photography and find some subjects that would benefit from a grittier look.
