The biggest disadvantage of these chromogenic films is that you can not control the contrast of these films. Development is in a standard C41 process. For the best details in the shadows you have (Indeed) to expose around iso 200-250.

For portraits they can be nice because they are producing softer negatives. But like all: It's a matter of taste. An advantage when scanning can be the use of ICE. On the other hand ICE often makes the scan less sharp but it's all depending on the type of software you're using too.

 

XP2 is designed to make B&W prints (MG B&W photo paper) from the negative.

T400CN is designed to make B&W prints via RA-4 color processing from it (minilab).

 

So I should say: Try it out what you like or not.
