thomasw_ Posted August 25, 2011 Share #21 Posted August 25, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Some very solid advice here. I will add my take. If your desire is just to try out a Leica film system, I would recommend the M. My reason is twofold: 1. that it is easier to sell again if you don't dig the slower process of shooting with film; 2. it is completely unique in that it is a rangefinder and using it might open avenues to your photography that you haven't explored with your SLR system -- as the saying goes, sometimes trying something different can be rejuvenating or even inspiring. So in your shoes I'd try out the M2 and 50/2 for a bit and see if it rocks your boxers
Advertisement Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Hi thomasw_, Take a look here R5 or m2?? first time leica user. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
giordano Posted August 25, 2011 Share #22 Posted August 25, 2011 also just found out that the 50mm f2 is a near focusing range lens-so it has a higher value then the previous models-am i right?i am looking on ebay, and they go alone for more then 1000$... Only if they're in excellent condition and complete with the slip-on "goggles" that are essential for the closer focusing.
Guest Randle P. McMurphy Posted August 25, 2011 Share #23 Posted August 25, 2011 I am new to the film, but I also want to know what will be a better deal...thanks Maybe no one told you but *psst* a long time ago Nikon build some outstanding film-cameras like the Nikon F3 or Nikon F4. They perfectly work with unexpensive and older superior manual focus-lenses (try Nikkor-AI) wich you can also use at your Nikon DSLR too. If you need a full mechanical camera grab the Nikon F2. It´s the best mechanic camera made by Nikon - maybe the best mechanic camera made by anyone - anytime.
digbyhp Posted August 25, 2011 Share #24 Posted August 25, 2011 To the OP, I echo the encouragements to either 1) If you really want a film SLR, stick with Nikon. 2) Be adventurous, and go M for film !

I bought that lens alone with out goggles at 550 euro at a shop. And still happy with that purchase! If you get guaranty with M2 set, buy it please! If no guaranty, ask someone have experience with Leica to come to test! That is a very nice offer! Sang
