Leica wide strap - much much worse

... but I still don't see what's wrong with the original strap! I used it for years on the M6 and M7 and was please to see exactly the same on the M8. Doesn't slip, slim enough to wrap around a fist if I'm carring the camera in the hand, right length for giving stability in slow exposures if I've got it over a shoulder or across the body ...

Am I the only one?

No if we were complaining about having to screw a dioptre onto the viewfinder to see what's happening with the range finder and then having to unscrew it to put on the telescopic adapter I'd be on your side... that's not user friendly design, and the dioptres are expensive!

Heigh ho...

You're quite right Chris - having just restrained myself from buying a expensive lens, I treated myself to what I thought out to be an improvement.

I'm back on the original strap, which is workmanlike, and works.

seems like a good place to stay!

........................... I'm not sure you can use brasso or any of the LCD polishing compounds because I think it has a coating and you will destroy the coating in the process.

That's certainly true of the Canon 1D/s/5D series of screens, as I have found out to my cost.

They appear to have a very tough hardened suface layer and a soft underneath. Once you have polished through the suface the softer layer does not take a polish well and tends to remain slightly diffuse. A way to cover this up is to attach a Patronus screen protector. The soft backing seems to be able to mould itself to the polished area making it transparent again.

Bob.
