wjkotze Posted February 11, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted February 11, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am interested in a demonstration model M8. Is there a way to check the number of exposures.
wparsonsgisnet Posted February 11, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted February 11, 2007 If the counter has not been reset, you can take a picture and check on the computer to see what sequence number the image has been assigned. Â If it's very low, say L100... [under 100], you can assume it was reset and you might benefit from asking the shop why. Â I take it the camera will come with a full warranty. Jager Posted February 11, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted February 11, 2007 One of the menu options is to change the frame counter from continuous sequential (where the frame number just keeps climbing forever) to where it begins counting anew with every card change. Even if the camera has been left at sequential numbering (the default), there is an option to reset the numbering back to zero. Â Bottom line, there is no user-accessible way of ascertaining the total number of frames the camera has taken. If the camera has been left at its original default, and no one - perhaps simply playing with the menus - ever reset it, you'd have a good count. But there's no way to tell if that's the case. carstenw Posted February 11, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted February 11, 2007 Given that these shutters are meant to live for over 100.000 shots, I cannot imagine that it is even possible for someone to have shot a significant number of shots on a demo camera. I would be much more concerned with whether or not it has been updated, and the state it is in.
