LCD screen

I have not used my X1 very much yet but have noticed that outdoors the rear screen always seems dark. It makes me think the camera is under exposing. I applied some EV which brightened it but when reviewing images later indoors the “dark” images were perfect and the others over exposed! LCD brightness is set to high. Is this just a feature of the camera and one reason why people use the external viewfinder? Still being bowled over by the IQ of this beauty!

hey boys... I am new here but thought i would jump in. Try using one of these:

Hoodman HoodLoupe Professional LCD Screen Loupe H-LPP3 B&H Photo

it will solve the problem somewhat. I say somewhat because the X1 display is oversaturated and over contrasted anyway so its still a guess. But at least you will be able to see it :) :)

One of the joys of owning an X1 is never knowing how good the shots are until you get home:)

Out in the field even great shots look quite dull on that low quality LCD display so now when using the viewfinder I don't bother chimping.
