Tazio722 Posted August 13, 2011 Share #1 Posted August 13, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello everyone i am new to lieca , have been a dedicated nikon user , however purchased a D-Lux 5 , and what a fantastic little camera, great build quality and design "think i may be getting the lieca bug" anyway the problem i have is that the images in jpg straight out of the camera are so good , wonderful colours and very sharp , but i am really strugglering to get the best out of the raw files i am unable to get anywhere close to the jpg quality from the camera, is the in camera processing doing something that i am unable to replicate in the raw file ? . my previous software was nikon NX which maintains the in camera settings as a starting point for the raw conversion , so i am not that familer with lightroom although i have spent alot of time on it since the purchase of the D-Lux, can anyone help?. Thanks James
Advertisement Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Hi Tazio722, Take a look here New Lieca owner odd image problem. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Jase Posted August 14, 2011 Share #2 Posted August 14, 2011 Well you may be getting the Panasonic bug. In-camera jpeg creation normally relies on a lot of sharpening and over-saturation to give the images punch. Try raising the image vibrance setting in Lightroom and increasing the sharpening and see how it compares.
Mike Rawcs Posted August 14, 2011 Share #3 Posted August 14, 2011 Hi James, here's a link that shows correct sharpening when using Lightroom Sharpening in Adobe Lightroom 3 - Photo Tips @ Earthbound Light Adobe have lots of online tutorials so it's worth looking at those too. You make virtual copies of a photograph in Lightroom and try various permutations of adjustments until you get the look that you want. Enjoy your D-Lux 5! Mike.
