Any rumors on 28mm f1.4 ?

There's two reasons why you should go buy your Cron

1. VF blockage on a 28mm Lux would be huge - and 28 is a focal length people like to use with the normal finder, so the likelihood of one being made is more unlikely than say 21 and 24 which lend themselves to external finders.

2. Even if they did release a 28/1.4 you'd be on a waiting list for a year before you got one, and then once it finally did turn up you could sell the Cron for at least what you paid for it.

In essence, go for it - it's a well-loved lens in these parts.

I have the 28 summicron and find it a fantastic lens and love the look of my shots I have taken with it and f/2 is still pretty fast, so my advice is pick one up while the prices are still on the buyers side and start taking some great photos.

I was talking about the used market for excellent condition 28 summicrons.

It is one of the few newer leica ASPH lenses you can pick up still for a pretty good price around $3000

Other posters have said that is because lots of M8 shooters unloaded these lenses when they switched to M9 and the prices have stayed relatively reasonable

Of course this is just in relation to the over inflated prices for other used newer leica ASPH lenses and is still a high price in the real world !

I have also heard that used 28mm summicron prices are now starting to creep higher so it may be a good time to buy sooner rather than later.
