ian moore Posted August 9, 2011 Share #1 Posted August 9, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a Nikon 5000ED and I have a processed roll of Velvia which I wish to scan. They are not mounted. Can I use the normal SA-21 film adaptor to insert the strip of film?. Usually this adpator is for negatives. Will the Nikon allow me to choose the positive film settings? Thanks, Ian.

andybarton Posted August 9, 2011 Share #2 Posted August 9, 2011 Yes, you can scan them in a strip just like negatives and the software allows you to choose a "positive" image. I never mount my slides - they go into archive sleeves just like negatives do
ian moore Posted August 9, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted August 9, 2011 Thanks,Andy, Also avoids the significant cropping that mounting necessitates. Ian,
Nick_S Posted August 9, 2011 Share #4 Posted August 9, 2011 Further, unlike what the manual suggests you can usually scan a strip of film with a single image on it using the SA-21 adapter, though you might need to reverse it. Only if it is a very short strip will you need the FH-3 film holder. Nick
