prager Posted August 5, 2011 Share #1 Â Posted August 5, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Amazing...I bought a Eye-Fi card and I just have to take some pictures and they are allready uploading to my PC before I get to the PC ! And the GPS coordinates are on it also. So I don't have to buy the X1-G (the one with the GPS-unit in it ) )
Advertisement Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Hi prager, Take a look here Eye-Fi card and X1-G. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
cfnissen Posted August 5, 2011 Share #2 Â Posted August 5, 2011 Hi Prager, Â Sounds good - I have a few questions that I hope you can help me with, as I have been trying to make up my mind whether to buy one of these cards: Â 1) Which version of the Eye-fi card did you get? 2) How precise do you find the geotagging to be? 3) Have you experienced any interference problems? I seem to remember that at one point Eye-fi warned against some interference problems precisely with the X1. Can't find any trace of it on their web-site. JeTexas Posted August 8, 2011 Share #3 Â Posted August 8, 2011 It was just a warning that wifi signal distance may be reduced due to the metal plate on the bottom of the X1, but as the battery door is plastic, I don't think it was actually a problem. However, the Eye-Fi card will damage the M8 and M9 if you attempt to use it in them, so definitely only try it on the X1.
prager Posted August 8, 2011 Author Share #4 Â Posted August 8, 2011 Hi, I have the most "expensive" Eye-Fi card, the 8GB Pro-X2. It works perfect and the GPS readings are verry accurate. Use it also in my Pana Gf1 and see no differents in GPS Readings..!
lykaman Posted August 9, 2011 Share #5 Â Posted August 9, 2011 X1-G (the one with the GPS-unit) -> Is this listed anywhere? I can only find the X1..
ChiILX1 Posted August 19, 2011 Share #6 Â Posted August 19, 2011 Hi Not that it's a bad thing but I've read it's not GPS. It's wifi based triangulation. The database knows where wifi hotspots are based on ip address info and other data and by reading the networks around you it sets a location. The only significant difference is for hikers- If you go way out in the middle of nowhere where there is no wifi signals it will be unable to locate itself.
