I'm sorry, perhaps I misunderstood the point of your post...

This comparison means nothing to me. What is it that you would have us comment on? That the colors are different?

I am also baffled by those on this thread who asked if the raw was straight out of the camera. There is no way to represent a raw image on a web page. The raw must first be processed into something that the web page can show (e.g., a JPEG). Either image could result from processing of almost any raw.

Are you trying to say that your combination of camera + camera settings + post processing resulted in two different settings for color balance? If that is what you're saying, then I still don't understand. It is normally true that different combinations of camera + camera settings + post processing would result in different color balances.

For me, the issue has never been whether my raw image with some default applied to it looks right. The issue is whether the raw image gives me a suitable basis to process into the image I visualized when I saw the scene. How would a set of defaults possibly know that?

Now that we know which one is taken with which camera, I want to know which was is the real color of your furuniture? We probably suspect, M8 has the wrong color, but looks more like real color to me.

are most now upset because they could not fiure out the right answer ? come on, it was not o difficult at all and it shows - nothing - but also shows that both (and all) high end systems are very equal. all we interpret into this and the differences is just peanuts compared to the real pictures we get out of these boxes.

... most didn't even think about checking the EXIF data when apples and oranges appear, went for pinning the tail on the donkey blindfolded.... sigh

Not blindfolded.

Sigh.

This one was easy without the help of a computerprogram.

Just don't allways need an EXIF file to know the answer.

Just use your eyes, see :)

I realize I could have removed the EXIF data, but I was not trying to be tricky or profound in proposing the little test. ( just a little fun)

Neither camera captured The TRUE color. The incandescent light overhead

mixed with sun light coming into room baffled both cameras. The D2x is closest.... but I think I can live, work, and be happy with both machines.
