macjim Posted July 25, 2011 Share #3 Posted July 25, 2011 Welcome, no, the viewfinder isn't necessary especially at the price, but if you are experiencing problems seeing the screen in bright light then, yes it will help you. You could buy the Panasonic version as it should work just fine and it'll be a good bit cheeper too.

mmradman Posted July 25, 2011 Share #5 Posted July 25, 2011 You can also consider optical viewfinder, helps with framing expecially at wide end.

wda Posted July 25, 2011 Share #7 Posted July 25, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) mholtsberg, Welcome to the forum. Is the viewfinder a necessity? In my opinion 'Yes' for serious work; 'optional' for hobby pictures. Strangely I use mine mostly indoors where a viewfinder is not so essential. That is because I use the X1 and M-rangefinder for my serious work. Each has a viewfinder.

Or is that sacreligous?
macjim Posted July 26, 2011 Share #10 Posted July 26, 2011 As far as I know it works just fine and, as I said earlier, it's cheaper than the Leica branded version. It all depends on whether you want ‘Leica’ on it or Panasonic. Cheers, Macjim.
brodman Posted July 26, 2011 Share #11 Posted July 26, 2011 Yes, it works fine! BTW: why it should be sacreligous? Leica isn´t a religion, but builds superb cams. cheers:)
