Advertisement Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Hi Sgt93, Take a look here Will there be a X2?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Photoskeptic Posted October 13, 2011 Share #22 Â Posted October 13, 2011 NO~!!! please...no video ~!! anything but a video function~!!! Â Amen.
57guy Posted October 26, 2011 Share #23 Â Posted October 26, 2011 I would spend $4,000 today for an X-2 if it had a 5 Exp AEB and interchangeable lens. I love my X-1. At my age, I don't like to think very much. With the simplicity of the X-1, I only think about the photo I'm trying to capture
Sgt93 Posted October 27, 2011 Share #24 Â Posted October 27, 2011 I repeat, faster AF and at least an f/2.0 lens (an f/1.8 or since I am dreaming, an f/1.4 and a built in view finder). GET ON IT LEICA!!!!
robert blu Posted October 27, 2011 Share #25 Â Posted October 27, 2011 Faster lens? Possibly, not absolutely necessary for my style of shooting. Interchangeable lenses? Maybe, not a clear opinion about. Video? Not at all ! What left now ? After having sent the camera to Solms and having to wait 6 week to have the sensor cleaned what I would like to see in an x2 is the possibility to clean the sensor without shipping the camera to Solms. robert PS: just thinking with interchangeable lenses should be not a problem. Matus Kalisky Posted October 28, 2011 Share #26 Â Posted October 28, 2011 Leica did announce interchangeable lens camera (not M10 ) to be shown in 2012. What makes me curios is whether it will be the X2, or the X2 will will come out as direct successor to X1 (thus having fixed lens) parallel to this new system. I guess we have to wait. Ecaton Posted October 28, 2011 Share #27 Â Posted October 28, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I know I repeat myself, but: Among the still pocketable large sensor cameras the X1 offers by far the best IQ, this is its main differentiator. So, keep size and form factor and make the lens faster, if possible within these limits. Summarit or even Summicron? Fast AF, yes it's possible, lens barrel with AF ring and proper distance scale (Olympus 12mm alike!), dedicated iso wheel, much better lcd screen, better build and finish and lastly, replace the pop up flash with a POP UP VF, either an OVF with basic information or even a state of the art EVF. I would be all over this one. A Summarit or Summicron 40mm equivalent with an excellently ececuted and beautifully designed capable small camera body attached to it for USD 2000-2500 sounds sweet to me. andybarton Posted October 28, 2011 Share #28 Â Posted October 28, 2011 How about an X1 with a permanently attached Tri-Elmar? Â Now, that would be a differentiated product, if ever I saw one.
stunsworth Posted October 28, 2011 Share #29 Â Posted October 28, 2011 How about an X1 with a permanently attached Tri-Elmar? Â In that case they might as well put a zoom lens on the camera instead.
andybarton Posted October 28, 2011 Share #30 Â Posted October 28, 2011 Every P&S camera has a zoom. Not every P&S camera has three quality lenses on the front. Â Just thinking outside the box.
bill Posted October 28, 2011 Share #31 Â Posted October 28, 2011 If you don't include the box with your thoughts they are automatically worth that much less. Â This is a Leica forum after all... Â Regards, Â Bill
wda Posted October 28, 2011 Share #32  Posted October 28, 2011 How about an X1 with a permanently attached Tri-Elmar? Now, that would be a differentiated product, if ever I saw one. But you would hardly call that 'compact'.
andybarton Posted October 28, 2011 Share #33 Â Posted October 28, 2011 Well, it wouldn't be an M Tri-Elmar but an X one. Think how small P&S zooms are.
Matus Kalisky Posted October 29, 2011 Share #34 Â Posted October 29, 2011 Well, it wouldn't be an M Tri-Elmar but an X one. Think how small P&S zooms are. Â P&S are small, but APS-C zooms are not. And can you image what that kind of lens would make to the price of the camera? Â I agree with Ecaton - keep the X2 small and improve what can be improved. I also thought of pop-up EVF, but I doubt there is enough room in a body this small for that - apart from technical issues one would have to overcome. Clip-on EVF would be fine IMO. iwh88 Posted October 30, 2011 Share #35 Â Posted October 30, 2011 I'm a new member with a 1 week old X1 that I really like. What I would have liked more is a Leica OVF bundled with the camera - for the same price! So an X2 with built in OVF and a MF ring would be my pick. Guest badbob Posted November 2, 2011 Share #36 Â Posted November 2, 2011 Making the X1 bigger would take away its one huge advantage over all others - small size. If they could do an EVF in the popup flash well, that would be OK. Â But the number one request I have is better image quality, and at this point that could best be accomplished with a better sensor and more pixels. A lot more pixels. Presumably a lot more pixels would require a lot more processing power - not the X1's strong point.
robert blu Posted November 2, 2011 Share #37 Â Posted November 2, 2011 I thought that image quality of the x1 was excellent ! robert PS: of course everything can be improved...

Higher iso ranges? Have a look at Sony, NEX5n versus NEX7 as far as more pixels and better IQ are concerned.

ohnri Posted November 3, 2011 Share #40 Â Posted November 3, 2011 My Sony 5N is putting out some very nice files with M glass. Â So far it has worked great with everything I've put on it from 16mm to 75mm. Â It has even given my 50mm DR Summicron a new digital life. Â It has real MF, very nice high ISO and is responsive. Â My M9 is my favorite camera and, no doubt, I'll get an M10 as soon as it's possible but.. Â Leica will have to do something really special to get me into an X2 or their new interchangeable lens system when a Sony 5N with an adapter and excellent EVF is under $1,000. Â Best, Â Bill
