MP3 Posted February 9, 2007 Share #3  Posted February 9, 2007 HI Bernard  The D2 lens is a fixed lens and it does not extend or retreat when you focus, no matter you are in manuel or auto focus. All focusing parts of the D2 Summicron lens move internally during the focus action. If your said movenment is between the lens and the body, your D2 may need to ship back for a repair. The good news is D2 standard warranty covers upto 36 months for free repair. Contact your dealer on that.  Cheers Matthew

brennanb Posted February 9, 2007 Author Share #5 Â Posted February 9, 2007 Bernard, do you mean the whole of the lens is moving relative to the body or one part of the lens is move relative to another part of the lens? Â Yes the whole lens is moving relative to the body, it looks like some internal screw as become loosened, still works, but probably best to return to vendor, delighted with reassuring help thank you
marknorton Posted February 9, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted February 9, 2007 There are 6 screws which secure the lens to the front casting, evenly spaced around the lens mount and the top two also hold the front edge of the top cover. It's a 20 minute job to take the camera apart to get at them and put everything back together, but if you're not confident to do it yourself, best left to a dealer. If you do want to tackle it yourself, you need a 000 Phillips screwdriver and a pair of tweezers.
