NZDavid Posted July 11, 2011 Share #1 Posted July 11, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have used Graphic Converter on my Macs for years and find it excellent for all the basics: resizing, tweaking levels, contrast and saturation, plus occasionally converting various image formats. There is probably a lot more I could use it for. I also have Lightroom for more extensive adjustment if needed. Who else likes Graphic Converter? How much better is the latest version? Advertisement Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Hi NZDavid, Take a look here Graphic Converter, who uses it?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
swamiji Posted July 11, 2011 Share #2 Posted July 11, 2011 I have it, been using it forever. I don't use it as much as i used to because LR and C1/MP seem to provide many of the same functions. However the large array of file types it supports is still why it's on my hard drive
Dougg Posted July 11, 2011 Share #3 Posted July 11, 2011 I've used GraphicConverter for many years, and would not want to be without it. It was the only editing software I used for jpg film scans from the lab. As CaptureOne has evolved, and now getting more familiar with LR3, more and more of the processing from RAW is done there. And lately, GC is only for working on the TIFF output of C1 and LR, resizing and outputting jpgs. Of course, GC has grown a lot over the years too... I'm using v7.
jeremyk Posted July 29, 2011 Share #4 Posted July 29, 2011 I used to use it maybe 10 years ago, even registered it. But every time I try it out again, it seems like it's barely changed. I thought it was more of a thumbnail and pic previewer with a slideshow feature?
Dougg Posted July 29, 2011 Share #5 Posted July 29, 2011 It has a very utilitarian user interface; one needs to explore the many menu items to see what they do. It is surprisingly powerful. I use the image browser feature all the time, and frequently use color adjustments, saturation, curves, skewing, rotating, scaling, sharpening, apply a thin black border, and save as uploadable JPEG while adjusting for the desired file size and dimensions. It has many more tools than I use. I think it grew rather haphazardly out of a simple filetype converter.
mjh Posted July 30, 2011 Share #6 Posted July 30, 2011 Another very powerful feature of GraphicConverter is its batch converter. I doubt many people are using more than about 10 percent of its features – from time to time I stumble upon something I never knew GC could do.
