Lord Fluff Posted July 12, 2011 Share #3 Posted July 12, 2011 Adorama one already gone by the looks. I was lucky enough to bag one from Richard Caplan in London, which was on their site for literally minutes before it sold - as it happened I only won it by virtue of someone else's card failing to authorise seconds before. Pretty much the exact same thing had happened to me when they had another one in a couple of weeks previously. You can't think about these lenses at all sadly - you simply have to buy now and then decide later if you really want to keep it.
egrossman Posted July 12, 2011 Author Share #4 Posted July 12, 2011 I agree completely. I was fortunate enough to find the FLE version of the 35mm Summilux "off the beat and path" at lensrentals.com. I saw it on the website and almost did a double-take! It's not a website I guess that most people associate with buying new Leica gear but they are an authorized dealer. Go figure. jacarape Posted July 14, 2011 Share #5 Posted July 14, 2011 5 grand for the Ver 1 (Pre Clicking)? That is psycho. Also Keh has two for about USD 4,450. It looks like mine may be heading out the door along with a 75 Lux.
egrossman Posted July 15, 2011 Author Share #6 Posted July 15, 2011 I was just bought a truly mint, German-made 75mm Summilux that was factory 6-bit coded in all of its original packaging (one of the last one's made in 2007) for $4,350. Did I overpay a little? Perhaps. They don't make it any more and I don't plan on selling it ever anyway. This is the lens I always wanted.
