myshkine Posted July 10, 2011 Share #41 Posted July 10, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Due to the strain of hiding camera shop receipts from SWMBO? ........... Anyway, the M has a slight complication for me at least, and it is the diopter correction. I recently lost my -0.5 correction lens (aaargh) which as we all know tend to unscrew from the VF, and immediately bought a new one (same gradation) at B&H. I did not try it and discovered that for some unknown reason it did not match my eyesight. So (I think it has been discussed in another thread) I'd like an M with diopter correction, to avoid having to repeatedly buy correction lenses, either because my vision worsens or because I loose it... pico Posted July 10, 2011 Share #42 Posted July 10, 2011 The other thing is that I dont actually completely trust the Leica cam and roller system. On film I'm sure it is OK, but the M9 is much more demanding. I've a rebuilt M9 (done by Leica in New Jersey) and focus is dead-on with 35mm Summilux, 50mm Summitar and 75mm Summilux. Just be careful. I've also (finally) done prints made on 16"x20" from the M9 and have realized the fact that nothing looks as good on the screen as it does in a print. Until recently I was using a Mac 30" monitor and one's penchant for 100% viewing shows nothing like a print does. Screen presentations are approximates.
