1st impressions - Much lighter than my MP, or at least it feels like it. My MP feels much better built. Like the bottom plate and keeps with the M tradition, like the clean design and lines but wish they had an external ISO dial. Shutter release not as smooth as my MP and shutter sound is not bad at all. Below is a link to a pbase page where I will put all of my M8 test shots and 1st shots, so keep an eye out. The very 1st shot out of the cam is there as well w/ a 100% crop. Detail is there, gobs of it over my film scans at 100%. Color is so so, but I have not even read the manual yet so no settings were changed.

Hi Steve, welcome to the club. Lots of fun lies ahead :-)

Not so sure about the weight thing though. According to Leica the M8 is 40 grams lighter than the MP, but that's without batteries in either. Factor in the batteries and I would have thought they were both about the same weight.

Not sure, but it does feel less solid, and lighter for sure. The battery is LIGHT and weighs next to nothing. Maybe it is in my head, but either way, so far so good with the M8. Seems like a winner (unless it dies or something)

What is kind of scanner you got and what is kind of film? I interesting to now this becaus files I got from mine Imacon is bigger from DMR files (I tell about both is .tiff) what got same aproximatif size of sensor like M8.

I have been using the coolscan 5000 - It gives me a huge file and larger image, but the detail is not there as it is with the M* as the grain hinders it a bit. Still, I love film as it has that special look I really enjoy. BUT I just sold my scanner as my M8 habit has depleted my funds for now...
