I posted a while ago that I went overboard buying camera gear. Just sold my Nikon 24G, 35G, 85D, 70-200 VRII and waiting on the D3s to sell. It was just more gear than I had time to use. I also found myself not wanting to bring a ton of lenses for this and that. The D3s is an amazing camera and way more than I ever need (casual photographer). I want something to bring with me and actually use. I may do an M9-P system later on in life but I think that for nice pics of the family, kids cars etc, the X1 will be more than sufficient. I am looking forward to this :) -Steve

Thanks all. I still have the D3s body to sell which should not take long. I just hope I don't buy an X1 and an X2 comes out shortly lol. Just my luck!

Welcome to the forum and enjoy your toy. I don't think any update is gonna happen for a year or so. And if it does the x1 will continue to take excellent images even then.

LOL, I love that answer. I just sold the D3s body a few ago. The gear went QUICK but it was all minty and new anyways. Thanks for the welcome. :)

Leica, please ship these cameras with a charged battery!!!! Dying here! lol

The 1st accessory I bought was a spare OEM battery. Fully charged your battery goes for about 300 images - it seems like a lot except when you are out shooting 2-3 days in a row and the red battery outline pops up Amazon.com: Leica BP-DC8 - Camera battery: Electronics

I wouldnt go out and rush to buy batteries. I find that I rarely deplete a fully charged battery in a day (in fact never). The X1 manages about 270 shots or more with some chimping. I now alternate the batteries but really I could have done with just one battery.

I am headed to St Croix at the end of the month so I will probably pick up a spare. Considering that during the 300 shots or so before it depletes, the battery life is pretty good for a camera that uses a live view display only.

Agree. I had read various comments online mentioning poor battery life so picked up a second (not inexpensive!) battery when I got the X1, and still have not had cause to use it - I get a full day's shooting off one battery fine.
