bbbonthemoon Posted June 23, 2011 Share #1 Posted June 23, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I received my M3 recenlty, won at ebay, it was claimed to be at EX+ condition, and from outside it definatelly is. However rangefinder window is full of small non-transparrent dots, look like rust dots to me, which do not block it too bad, and I can focus quite easily, thanks to my rf experience probably, but they are definatelly visible and are pretty annoying. I need your advice if this is normal for a M3, or I should expect really clear and bright RF, like in new M9, and just return the camera to seller, since it was claimed to be in excellent condition all around. thanks

Xmas Posted June 23, 2011 Share #3 Posted June 23, 2011 The rangefnder patch should be clear of marks, it can be repaired but is expensive, if the marks need the prisms separating. The M9 is multi coated on all surfaces, the M3 is single coated internally except for outer glass. The M3 is however a better rangefinder in many ways. Dont send it back to Solms they will replace the whole module... CAMERA REPAIRS & RESTORATION - LUTON , ENGLAND - 2011 Noel
