framestore Posted June 22, 2011 Share #1 Posted June 22, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Leica officially announced new lens, Leica Super-Elmar-M 1:3.4/21 mm ASPH. Anyone have further info on UK retail pricing? New M9-P the red dot and the M9 lettering on the front have been removed. Retailing UK at 5,395 pounds. framestore Posted June 22, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted June 22, 2011 List price is 2,025 GBP Thanks for the pricing info. I was going to buy 2nd hand Super Angulon. On eBay, it sells £1,800 in mint con'd and well used at £800 approx. Now it's just right time for me to buy brand new Super-Elmar ! The price seems also reasonable, £1,687 plus 20% vat. I will have to wait a good reviews between old but envious Super Angulon and new Super-Elmar. - Regards, Joe
Ecar Posted June 22, 2011 Share #4 Posted June 22, 2011 Chances are the prices of the Super Angulon will drop quite a bit...
framestore Posted June 22, 2011 Author Share #5 Posted June 22, 2011 Chances are the prices of the Super Angulon will drop quite a bit... Hope so, but I don't see any sales of this lens on ebay UK. It's also very hard to find one with mint con'd throughout Uk retailers. I'm very much doubt that the current owner will sell their Super Angulon for , or to buy new Super-Elmar. - Regards, Joe
JSU Posted June 23, 2011 Share #6 Posted June 23, 2011 Chances are the prices of the Super Angulon will drop quite a bit... The SA 21/3.4 has been out of production since 1978. It has a well established reputation and niche. It's price is independent of all other 21mm lenses, I wouldn't expect the market value of the Super Angulon to move at all. pgk Posted June 23, 2011 Share #8 Posted June 23, 2011 I've read here, and elsewhere, that the Super Angulon (3.4) has very low distortion figures (in fact there have been some adverse comments about the new 21/3.4 because of its distortion figures). Has anyone got any actual data as to the distortion figures of the Super Angulon - as an owner of (2) the SAs, I'd be interested (but as I currently use them on the M8 I can't test beyond the cropped sensor size myself)? I'm wondering if the criticism of distortion figures and the oft quoted superb low distortion of the SA are actually based on firm fact or just accepted 'myth'? FWIW the new lens looks just what I want but having the 2 SAs it might have to wait a bit.
