hhanebeck Posted June 19, 2011 Share #1 Posted June 19, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Here are a couple shots of Dr. Kaufmann and David Levinthal at Westlicht Gallery that show a lens I have never seen before: WestLicht - Schauplatz f I might just be dreaming, but this very much looks like a silver Noct. Maybe it is a new 35 f/0.95 ... just kidding! Cheers, Chris
Advertisement Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Hi hhanebeck, Take a look here Silver Noctilux. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Marty Posted June 19, 2011 Share #2 Posted June 19, 2011 Nice lens, but what's with the horizontal layout of the page (no it's not unique, artistic or creative, just plain foolish).
Lord Fluff Posted June 19, 2011 Share #3 Posted June 19, 2011 Too long and not fat enough to be a Nocti IMHO <edit> I take that back, it probably is
otto.f Posted June 19, 2011 Share #4 Posted June 19, 2011 And a chrome version of the M9 ?
k_g_wolf ✝ Posted June 19, 2011 Share #5 Posted June 19, 2011 Indeed ! Seems so, well seen ... Looks like a next to perfect arranged product-placement. Best GEORG
wattsy Posted June 19, 2011 Share #6 Posted June 19, 2011 Agree with the OP that it looks like a silver version of the F0.95 Noctilux.
erlingmm Posted June 19, 2011 Share #7 Posted June 19, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Seems like a Silver Noctilux is coming as special edition with the M9-P. marknorton Posted June 19, 2011 Share #8 Posted June 19, 2011 Yes, does look like a silver Noctilux, even less discrete than the black one. Wouldn't it be nice if Leica actually improved the M9 (I won't start my list) instead of simply using alternative finishes to provide limited editions. They may provide welcome profits but there's much to do (IMHO) elsewhere.
Lord Fluff Posted June 19, 2011 Share #9 Posted June 19, 2011 I'm sure this is heresy....but does anyone else think that a silver 0.95 Nocti on an MP just looks......flippin ridiculous?
Guest Posted June 19, 2011 Share #10 Posted June 19, 2011 Sobering answer to the hope of fruitful input from a PJ for further Leica models imo. But imagine having a black one for over a year now and the crave for something new to buy to go with the NEW body! So there soon will be a titanium one and a black paint one, too. Not to mention the endless possibilities for engravings. When next generation Canicons with improved video functions and more compact at the same time, top primes being already avaiable, will we be able to overlook the fact that we'll be vertu camera owners? Same observation goes for our Canicon photo friends. Which per se is not wrong, since Morgan doesn't waste funds in Indy, Le Mans or Formula 1. But will it be a tool? Let's wait and see. It's more a R&D engineers' career problem imo.

Depending which surface coating your MP has Though you can't be that picky with cameras made in the sixties. Deliberately churning out collectibles as a substantial part of the production, in a market of tools, is an art and we'll see if it works. But let's relax about it: it's a win-win situation for a company, that was in the red for decades before the new concept came in.
Peter H Posted June 19, 2011 Share #12 Posted June 19, 2011 I'm sure this is heresy....but does anyone else think that a silver 0.95 Nocti on an MP just looks......flippin ridiculous? I do. I look forward to the day when the M9, or whatever it is by then, is successful enough (technologically and thus commercially) to make this kind of nonsense unnecessary. 01af Posted June 19, 2011 Share #15 Posted June 19, 2011 I think we need the diamond-encrusted version ... Maybe Leica Camera AG should start a co-operation with Rolex? I am looking forward to the Leica Noctilux Day-Date President version ... or how about a Rolex Yachtlux Noctmariner cal. 5095 ...
gravastar Posted June 19, 2011 Share #16 Posted June 19, 2011 Let's hope it's not a "real" all brass chrome version. Talk about a brick around your neck! . Bob.
StephenPatterson Posted June 19, 2011 Share #17 Posted June 19, 2011 I see this new silver Nocti is anodized and not chrome. At least Leica realized that making the Nocti even heavier by adding chrome plating was not a good idea.

This page is from the official Leica importer in Norway:Leica M Special Editions | Leica Thanks for the link, erlingmm! Westlicht hosted the 20 Year Leica Store Anniversary in Vienna so this makes perfect sense. It seems the company has manufactured 50 silver Noct for these three limited editions. You are right, the lens is the limited edition ... brilliant idea from a product management perspective. It is an incredibly beautiful lens!
