pgk Posted June 15, 2011 Share #1 Posted June 15, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I picked up a Reprovit 2 for a ludicrously small sum of money - with 2 minutes of adaption it is up and running - with a 5D2 and 60 Elmarit of course! However it came with a Focus slide unit, light assembly and lens which intrigues me - has anyone got any links to details of how this all works as I can't figure it all out (I've tried putting an MDa on to it but fit is 'odd')? Advertisement Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Hi pgk, Take a look here Info needed for Reprovit 2. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
giordano Posted June 15, 2011 Share #2 Posted June 15, 2011 The light assembly is for easy focusing and framing of flat originals. Instead of you having to peer through a magnifier at the ground glass on the Focuslide, it projects a test image onto the original while you adjust magnification, framing and focus. Then as you slide the camera into position there's a little arrangement of levers to stop the Focotar down automatically to working aperture. But AFAIK the Focuslide takes an ordinary M body, so I don't know what the problem can be there.
jc_braconi Posted June 15, 2011 Share #3 Posted June 15, 2011 (I've tried putting an MDa on to it but fit is 'odd')? Can you post some pictures about it ?
pgk Posted June 15, 2011 Author Share #4 Posted June 15, 2011 Here's a quick snap - I assume that the MDa should simply drop in place and be held down by the sprung loaded clamping assembly, but the knurled brass piece fouls and lifts up one side of the camera so I'm doing something wrong:
giordano Posted June 16, 2011 Share #5 Posted June 16, 2011 None of those bits of brass is original. They must have been added by a previous owner to adapt the unit for some function. The one on the right looks as if it could serve to operate a microswitch in the housing to control the focusing lamp (or switch over between main lights and focusing light) when the stage is slid into focusing position. Also, the casting on which the camera rests is designed for screw-mount cameras (cut-out for the slow-speed dial, two recesses for rangefinder windows, elongated vertically to accept the different heights of III-IIIb, IIIc-IIIf and probably IIIg) not Ms (no cut-out for the lens release button or frame preview lever). JCB, can you confirm this and whether it was possible to use M-bodies on this unit?
pgk Posted June 16, 2011 Author Share #6 Posted June 16, 2011 I've removed the (rather beautifully made) brass bits and the MDa fits snugly enough now. Thanks.
giordano Posted June 16, 2011 Share #7 Posted June 16, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks for the feedback. If you put a film through it, please let us know the results - especially whether the focusing is right. Maybe it will need a LTM adapter to get the register distance correct.
