I just coded my Apo-Telyt-M 135 and for some reason under automatic it shows up as a 35 mm, not 135 mm. Any suggestions?

Maybe you got the six bits backwards. 101011 (43) is the code for the Summarit-M 35 mm.

EDIT: You did get the six bits backwards.

Summarit-M 35mm f2.5, Product 11643 6-bit code is 101011 I believe.

K-H.

According to the list just referred to me it says the Summarit code is as you indicate. BUT on my Match Technical M Coder Kit-on the back side-where it lists the Macro 90mm f4.0 as 111001, it also shows the Summarit 35mm f2.5 as 110101. Of course it was made before the APO 135 code was released I guess.

I coded my brand new APO 135 110101 per everyone's suggestions and my M9 shows it (On automatic) as a Summait 35mm f2.5!

I did not check this on my coder before marking it since I knew it was not listed on my coder, but accepted what people said was code 53 for this APO 135mm. All other lenses I have coded using this Coder kit have showed up correctly-18mm Zeiss, 35mm Zeiss, 25mm Zeiss, 50mm Zeiss, 90mm Summicron M-II ASPH, etc.

I am still confused as to why my camera will not show the APO 135mm like every one elses will when coding 110101!

The code should be read from left to right on the bayonet mount when the outside of the rim is away from you and the inward side towards you.

I'm on the road, but if it was unclear I'll post a picture of the coded lens.

What do you suggest I do? That code list has the Summarit 35mm f2.5 different from the M coder which seems to have a code that my M9 recognizes as the 35mm Summarit.

These 2 sources (M Coder and the Leica list you reference) seem to be at odds. Any remedy?

Do you have an M9 or M8?

Any ideas how I remove the coding I have done without destroying anything on the lens?

Yes, if any pictures are available I will gladly take a look to see what I did wrong. Thanks in advance.

I have an M9 with firmware 1.162 and an Apo Telyt 135/3.4 with coding I applied myself.

It has to do with how you read the code. Look at the pictures next to the code numbers in the list this list: click

The inside of the mount is at the bottom of the picture, the outside at the top. That is how you should read and apply that list. If you now in the same way paint the code on your 135/3.4 it will work, so like this:

Thanks everyone for your help. Took off old coding and redid it holding the coder up top rather than down low. As some suggested I simply did it upside down. It now works. Do not know how I coded my other lenses which all work fine, but in any event every lens now recognized by my M9.

Algrove,

Congrats. When did you get your Coder kit?

The 6-bit code for the APO 135 is brand new.

Best, K-H.

I got my coder kit back in February 2011. I used it to code the lens, but someone here mentioned that it was 110101 and that's how I got the actual code. I just used the coder to put it on the lens. I hope Leica actually will hard code them someday. I would go for that option if available.
