PaulOD Posted May 31, 2011 Share #1 Posted May 31, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I some months ago I bought a version 2 MATE from a forum member and am very pleased with it as a general purpose walkabout and travel lens.I also have 35 and 50 Summicrons. However the aperture ring is a little loose and it is easy to move it without realizing it. On reviewing threads about this lens I've other comments to this effect. For those with this lens and this problem, what have you done about it? i.e. send to Solms or DAG). toff Posted May 31, 2011 Share #2 Posted May 31, 2011 I too had a similar problem with my V2 MATE. The aperture ring was too loose, and the lens was sent back to Solms for repair. Fortunately for me, it was still covered by warranty and so was repaired without charge. It now has distinct click stops.
tdtaylor Posted May 31, 2011 Share #3 Posted May 31, 2011 My v2 MATE definitely has a relatively loose aperture ring, without distinct clicks which hold it in place. It is very easy to brush the ring and change the aperture. I had Sherry Kraus do a cleaning and adjustment, with definitive instructions to tighten the aperture ring, but it didn't substantially improve it. To a degree, I have learned to live with it. I have a dent in it, and figured next time I send it in for a CLA to Leica I would have both looked into.
trond Posted May 31, 2011 Share #4 Posted May 31, 2011 I have the same problem with my MATE V2. It has been in Solms on two occasions for 6-bit coding/CLA, then later for focus calibration with my M9. I asked for adjustment of the click stops, but it came back in the same state. I have also learned to live with it. Best regards Trond
