nsr500rossi Posted May 30, 2011 Share #1 Posted May 30, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Just a heads up that on Friday 27th May 2011 at 12.30am, i left my camera and lens in a taxi in Brighton UK The camera is a Leica M8 serial number 3198712, it has quite a lot of scratches on it ..especially on the screen, itt also has a 'thumbs up' attached. Camera has a Leica Summicron 28mm f2.0 asph lens attached with leica hood. Serial number 04039775. Obviously i am absolutely gutted about this.. I have contacted the police and the taxi firm 'city cabs' have also posted an ad on Gumtree's lost and found offering a reward and am in the process of notifying as many camera shops as possible. I am asking you guys if you would keep an eye out for me. Many thanks in advance Mike

bill Posted May 30, 2011 Share #4 Posted May 30, 2011 Owwww.... Do try home insurance - you may at least get partial cover. Get a case number from the police. It's good you have the serial numbers. Regards, Bill

ramosa Posted May 31, 2011 Share #9 Posted May 31, 2011 Sorry to hear this. Since I started using expensive Leica gear 3+ years ago, I have always had a specific rider for all of it through my insurance company. Sure, I have to pay for the insurance, but it completely covers any loss via theft, loss or breakage--and, importantly, frees my mind of any related stress. I strongly recommend this approach. If anything happens to this equipment, I will get the purchase price back. That said, it can't hurt to check up on the home insurance ...
