arthury Posted February 4, 2007 Share #1 Posted February 4, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I got that letter from Solms about the 30% discount for new lenses if I order them before June 2007. I cannot understand the letter very well. It says that I would *only* qualify for this discount if I have bought the M8 before Dec.31, 2006. Well, I bought my M8 after that date and I certainly registered it in mid Jan 2007. If I don't qualify then why are they sending me the letter all the way from Germany? I am a confused customer. Please help me understand this. THANKS!

thpeters Posted February 4, 2007 Share #2 Posted February 4, 2007 Hi Arthur, The rules are clear, camera bought in 2006 before December 31, get the discount of 30% till June 2007, period. Having said that, I understand why you a little confuse, when you have bought the camera in 2007, then LEICA should NOT send you this letter at all. Anyways I hope you enjoy your new toy.... leicanewbie Posted February 4, 2007 Share #3 Posted February 4, 2007 Well what if you called them and took them up on their offer anyway? Maybe you could take advantage of the confusing language and score some discount? I've found Leica NJ to be pretty decent to work with once you talk to them a couple of times. Can't hurt
stunsworth Posted February 4, 2007 Share #4 Posted February 4, 2007 Arthur, I think you may have received the letter because they don't know when you paid for the camera. If you had paid for it before the 31st of December and received the camera in January you would qualify for the discount. When you register the camera they obviously know when you regidter it, but there's not way of proving when you paid. So I suspect they are sending the letters out to everyone who registers, so that they won't miss anyone who may have paid before the end of the year. marknorton Posted February 4, 2007 Share #5 Posted February 4, 2007 Slightly bad PR to send a customer the letter and then reject it when they apply to buy a lens. If I were you and wanted a lens, I'd just send in the order and see how you get on. The worst they can do is decline your order... personally, I never decline the opportunity to take money off enthusiastic customers and rules are made to be broken, aren't they?
