robsteve Posted February 3, 2007 Share #1 Posted February 3, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I saw a break in the rain this afternoon and decided to take a quick drive with my son to see what I could find to take some pictures of. This is Northwest Cove, about half an hour from Chester NS. Nothing fancy done here, just 50mm Summicron, f8 and be there I didn't use any grads or polarizers. This is just what I got with a staight capture on the DMR and RAw conversion in Lightroom. The sun was only out for about ten seconds for this shot. psquared Posted February 3, 2007 Share #2 Posted February 3, 2007 That picture is worth the drive. Good capture, Robert. Peter
robsteve Posted February 4, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted February 4, 2007 Now that I am home and working off my desktop rather than a laptop, I redid the above image and here is another picture from the same spot.

robsteve Posted February 4, 2007 Author Share #6 Posted February 4, 2007 One more from the same spot. This time I shot it from the road, close to the wharf, using the same 50mm Summicron.
stunsworth Posted February 4, 2007 Share #7 Posted February 4, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) The 50mm Summicron is an amazing lens for the price isn't it. I bought mine for use on the R8/5D for just over $200. Best $200 I've ever spent on a lens :-)

Best $200 I've ever spent on a lens :-) It was a bit of a letdown at f2, since I was used to shooting the new 50mm summilux, but once you stop it down, it is faboulous accross the frame. At f2 it is fine in the middle, jut not as good as the summilux all across the frame.
peterv Posted February 4, 2007 Share #9 Posted February 4, 2007 Nice photo's Rob, I like the one you did on your desktop best. Color- and lightwise, but also because of the composition with the dark cloud covering the top of the frame completely. Thanks for sharing. andybarton Posted February 5, 2007 Share #10 Posted February 5, 2007 This is a very pretty scene, Rob. I too prefer the shot with the cloud across the full width of the frame.
