Beyder28 Posted May 18, 2011 Share #1 Posted May 18, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Can someone help me with the workflow for processing DNG files from my X1 with Capture One Pro 6? I just want to process the DNG files with Capture One and then transfer them to Aperture 3 to make all the adjustments to the converted file. I need help with the workflow and also especially with choosing the right ICC profile, format, etc. Thanks to all for your input.

delander † Posted May 19, 2011 Share #2 Posted May 19, 2011 Make sure you have the 'tools' shown in the viewer, select the colour tool tab (3 overlapping circles in the icon). You will see the histogram and below that the box where you input the camera profile. Click on the little up down arrows to the right and from the drop down select Leica and then X1 generic. CaptureOne normally detects the camera used automatically? You can also choose the film preset you prefer. Hope this helps Jeff Welcome, dear visitor! delander † Posted May 19, 2011 Share #3 Posted May 19, 2011 PS for output I would choose 16bit tif, Although I'm a mac user I dont have Aperture so I've no idea if tif is the best choice. Personally I do my RAW tweaking in C1 before bringing the image into Photoshop Jeff

Also, does it make sense for me to do anything with the white balance brick and the skin tones? Does it do something with that automaticall? Ideally I would like to do the WB and other stuff in Aperture. Does it make sense just to pick the ICC profile and then export to Aperture or do anything else before that? delander † Posted May 19, 2011 Share #6 Posted May 19, 2011 I do things like white balance, highlight/shadow recovery, levels/curves and clarity etc if required. I leave sharpening at default. Jeff
robert blu Posted May 20, 2011 Share #7 Posted May 20, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) After processing in Aperture or LR (both non destructive) do you keep (or is it better) the files as DNG or you convert to TIFF for filing purpose? robert
delander † Posted May 20, 2011 Share #8 Posted May 20, 2011 I keep all my dng files, my tif files which have been exported from C1, ACR or LR and then tweaked in PS I use to make prints and keep them also. Printing is for me the final output and I will often print more than one version, I don't rely on the onscreen appearance. Jeff
