Beyder28 Posted May 14, 2011 Share #1 Â Posted May 14, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have read a lot of threads about the best viewfinder for the X1 but I really don't understand why one would need a viewfinder for the X1? What are the advantages and in what situations would you use one?

santaclaus2100 Posted May 14, 2011 Share #2 Â Posted May 14, 2011 Personally, I seem to frame and shoot quicker with my Voightlander viewfinder. Compared to using the screen.

Beyder28 Posted May 14, 2011 Author Share #4 Â Posted May 14, 2011 I'm sure its fun but are there technical advantages? Like how come people put a view finder on an M9?
spylaw4 Posted May 14, 2011 Share #5  Posted May 14, 2011 I'm sure its fun but are there technical advantages? Like how come people put a view finder on an M9?  X-1 - Bright sunlight - can't see the screen. - Hate holding cameras at arm's length  M9 - framing for lenses other than those in the viewfinder. Solar B Posted May 14, 2011 Share #6  Posted May 14, 2011 I use the Leica Universal Wide-Angle Viewfinder..use it on both my DL4 & X1..for me it just makes the camera a joy..  Im with DL4 on this one as i "enjoy" a traditional approach to photography , i started as a keen photographer during the 80s , where there was no other option but to use a VF... so to me its all very natural , the only downside is that good X1 VFs are expensive  Brian
bill Posted May 14, 2011 Share #7 Â Posted May 14, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Bright light - can't see the screen. Low light, don't want to destroy my night vision or look like Frankenstein's monster. Any light, want to see my subject, not a bunch of pixels on a TV screen.
