IkarusJohn Posted May 23, 2011 Share #21 Posted May 23, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks Malcolm, I never liked the plastic hoods on the Summicron 28 & 35. I found a 12466 hood on sale from PopFlash. Even on sale, it was ludicrously expensive, but it looks very nice on my Summicron-28. Dirk commented on the interference with the aperture ring - it's tight, but not a problem. I won't miss that stupid, huge hood that comes standard. I also got the same style of hood for my Summicron 35. It doesn't have the scalloping, but it looks great as well. The only problem with this one is the self-ejecting lens cap - the slightest pressure on the hood, and the cap pops off. I can see that I will have to ditch using the lens caps, except when I put the lens away. Cheers John
Advertisement Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Hi IkarusJohn, Take a look here Leica 12589 vs 12466 replacement hood for 35 Lux ASPH old. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
menos I M6 Posted May 24, 2011 Author Share #22 Posted May 24, 2011 I like this hood a lot. Anybody found a nice 46mm pinch cap, to use instead of the Leica caps (can't understand, that Leica didn't develop a proper pinch cap yet)?
peter_n Posted May 24, 2011 Share #23 Posted May 24, 2011 I really like the little plastic rectangular hoods, but I agree that the prices are ridiculous. I have a BP 35/2 ASPH and it came with a silly round vented hood so I had to buy a 12526 hood for it. They're $115 at B&H! For years I've had a cheap little heavystar 46W hood on the Summilux 35; a metal screw-in that's small and works well. Welcome, dear visitor! Fred Dingemans Posted April 15, 2016 Share #24 Posted April 15, 2016 I came up with a pinch lens cap that won't spring from your fingers. 2 tine set screws, just pointy enough to hold verry firm.
