abrewer Posted May 15, 2011 Share #41 Posted May 15, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Great lens Great price Not sure which VF you have (didn't bother to read the whole thread) but at .72 it's the last really usable wide angle Mine, right now, is mated to the MP ready to go to the Speedway today (if it ever stops raining here)
Advertisement Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Hi abrewer, Take a look here Summicron-M 28 Asph. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
IkarusJohn Posted May 19, 2011 Author Share #42 Posted May 19, 2011 I have an M9 (& MP), and the 28 fills the viewfinder nicely (0.68 on the M9 and 0.72 on the MP). With my 21 off to Solms for repair, I've succumbed, and purchased a nice 28 Summicron for USD 2,900. Seems a good price. I'll get a 12466 hood, if I can find one for a sensible price (Meister has it listed for 350.00 Euro, plus 199 Euro for shipping - 199 Euro for shipping!). Will shop around! Looking forward to this lens - a perfect walkabout combo with a 50, would be my guess. Thanks everyone for the encouragement. Cheers John

I strongly suggest you have a try somehow with the 12466 hood, as it indeed is very close to the camera body - so much indeed, that for me, it feels uncomfortable, to push my big hand between the lens hood and the camera body, as the 28 Cron is actually a fairly short lens for a fast 28mm. For the 35 Lux ASPH, the hood is a perfect fit and I simply love it!
