ped Posted May 1, 2011 Share #1 Posted May 1, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi guys Just put a 21mm viewfinder on my M4-P. There's a small screw at the front of the cold shoe which means the viewfinder doesn't go all the way into the shoe. Should I remove the screw? What's it for? Advertisement Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Hi ped, Take a look here Cold shoe screw. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Robert J Posted May 1, 2011 Share #2 Posted May 1, 2011 The screw fastens the spring that holds an accessory in the shoe.Removing the screw will allow you to remove the spring, exposing the mounting screws that fasten the shoe to the camera. The screw also prevents the foot of a mounted accessory from scraping the edge of the top plate recess in the front left corner of the shoe.
