Allnm Posted April 19, 2011 Share #1 Posted April 19, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) It doesnt do it all the time, but I noticed it with almost every one of about 150 shots today. I am photographing small huts for work. They are generally in the sun and very brightly lit and brightly painted. Camera is either set on full auto or aperture priority. When I focus ( any mode), the LCD flashes, I think its just the image getting much brighter for a split second, then it will focus and I can take the shot. It only seems to do it on very bright subjects and looking at the exif I notice one was 1/2000 @ f2.8. Another was 1/1000 @ f6.3 Anybody else get this flashing? AF seems very slow when it happens too. Allan

Backpage Posted April 19, 2011 Share #2 Posted April 19, 2011 I've seen this too and wondered about it. There seems to be no impact on the images though.

maddog333 Posted May 3, 2011 Share #5 Posted May 3, 2011 I notice the same. Also, most of time when I turn on the X1, see through the len I found the aperture are opening/closing like it's adjusting itself, esp. when the environment lights is bright. Is this a way it protects the CMOS from intake too much lights and avoid burnt?
andybarton Posted May 3, 2011 Share #6 Posted May 3, 2011 Is it in the over-exposed sky area only, or the whole of the image?
wda Posted May 3, 2011 Share #7 Posted May 3, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Are you using an external viewfinder? I do and notice that the information will show briefly on the LCD and give the appearance of flashing, when in reality it is merely using the screen for a brief period. Allan i only noticed this behavior *after* the 2.0 update as far as i can discern- it has no effect on the image
Allnm Posted May 3, 2011 Author Share #9 Posted May 3, 2011 Is it in the over-exposed sky area only, or the whole of the image? Its not the image but the whole LCD display. Its not flashing highlights, it seems the display flashes an overexposed image of what you are viewing just before it starts to focus or just as it starts to focus. It extends the focus time a little. The resultant images are always perfectly exposed. Whether I just noticed it because the weather has brightened up and we are getting nice sunny days or its a result of V2 firmware, I dont know.
