Viewfinder options, so many, which to choose and why?

I have not read much of this thread, because my eyes are nearly what is medically known as stuffed.

I can barely focus through my R8. Slightly easier through the R3 MOT's larger v/f. Using the monitors or focusing aids in the Olympus E or Canon bodies is easier with manual lenses.

I loved the rangefinder experience, but that type of camera is now useless to me.

Most of you seem to think your sight will remain as good as it may be now. It will inevitably deteriorate, so that an EVF may be the salvation for your photography, rather than having to give it up as used to happen.

The r/f is out of date, now too fragile , requires adjustment at three distances, rather than just at infinity as on the M4 and prior cameras. I used to carry an M3 and M4 in panniers attached to the front forks of a bicycle while travelling over some of Australia's corrugated roads. Never required adjusting. The later Ms seem to go out of adjustment if one coughs a bit violently.

I am going to buy an Olympus E-PL3, EVF, and 4/3 adapter to continue using R lenses. I have no interest in some years-late Solms overpriced solution. My ergonomically awful 5D-II can cater for 24 x 36 mm use.

Requiring a white cane and a guide-blonde,

John.
