Leicatime Posted April 2, 2011 Share #1 Â Posted April 2, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all, Just got my x1 yesterday and have upgraded to firmware 2.0. Just notice that when i point the camera to a very bright subject then point it to a darker subject it makes a continous ticking sound as if it is trying to focus (shutter button is not pressed). Is this normal? Any suggestion will be appreciated. Thanks

Titanium Posted April 2, 2011 Share #2 Â Posted April 2, 2011 Yes, don't worry about that. The X1 is making its cook for the Live View i think...

village idiot! Posted April 3, 2011 Share #4 Â Posted April 3, 2011 Mine makes that sound sometimes when I have the external viewfinder setting on. For this reason I always assumed it was adjusting shutter speeds since I only hear it when I have the A function set for the shutter speed I've noticed it making the clicking sound as I move into different lighting situations (I'm probably wrong about all this but I do keep the live view setting off to save battery life). I'm also convinced whatever does make that clicking sound is one of the reasons the camera drains the battery so quickly.

barjohn Posted April 3, 2011 Share #6 Â Posted April 3, 2011 I thought the new firmware was supposed to do away with the constantly changing aperture in favor of leaving the aperture at the user setting. The GXR did the same thing as its means of displaying on the LCD what the image would look like when shot rather than stopping down just before the shot. Dan States Posted April 3, 2011 Share #7 Â Posted April 3, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) It goes to full aperture while you are actually focusing. One the MF assistance magnification stops the aperture returns to auto adjustment.
mjh Posted April 3, 2011 Share #8 Â Posted April 3, 2011 As a rule, compact cameras are continually adjusting the aperture during live view. This is also true of the X1; only with the new firmware installed and when focusing manually is the aperture fixed at f2.8.
ChiILX1 Posted April 7, 2011 Share #9 Â Posted April 7, 2011 Guys- I can't actually get my X1 to constantly adjust the aperture anymore- with or without viewfinder with or without the aperture manually set! It seems they answered our prayers and got rid of this with the 2.0 update! Â It should definitely save some battery!
