hardcor Posted April 1, 2011 Share #1 Â Posted April 1, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Everbody, Â I am excited by being part of something I always wanted to be part off and this is being a Leica owner. I have had the Lux 4 almost for 3 years but I knew deepdown that the Lux one is not really a Leica made camera?. Its by all means a great camera but Not made and producted by Leica themself. Now I do have the X1 and this is what I have always dreamed of, its a differant feeling to have a camera made by the company that has been at the fore front of Photografy in the last almost 100 years. My brother always had one (the M5) and never had the money to own one like his. Even do the X1 is the cheaper of the digital camera collection of Leica its to me a real dream to own one. I have taken it to Sydney Australia and have had a wedding with it (familie Photografer you know) and the quality is something I haven't seen for a while when it comes to digital images. I am also new to the Adobe Lightroom 3 which was free with the camera and again I am amazed by what can be done in postproduction additing. My next forum letter is about some question I have regarding the camera but for now thanks for having me. Â HardCor

Allnm Posted April 1, 2011 Share #2 Â Posted April 1, 2011 Welcome to the forum. It's nice to have a Leica. I had a DL4 and always kidded myself it was a real Leica, but it was just a Panasonic with a red dot. Still, I enjoyed it. Allan
reginaldwatkins Posted April 2, 2011 Share #3 Â Posted April 2, 2011 First and foremost, welcome to the forum. I too went from the D-Lux 4 to the X1. Yes, I agree the image quality is of the upmost importance with the X1. The D-Lux 4 has a very high quality feel and result, the X1 is simply the next level. Have fun! lykaman Posted April 2, 2011 Share #4  Posted April 2, 2011 Welcome, yes I too went from 35mm Leica’s (R6.2 & M6 still have them) to the original Leica/Fuji -> Original D-Lux -> DL4 (all still in use) & now Awaiting delivery of my X1..(with grip & spare battery) I purchased my X1 from PopFlash..excellent service.. My Motto - Drink lots of JD, shoot with a Leica, enjoy Life..
tmldds Posted April 2, 2011 Share #5 Â Posted April 2, 2011 Welcome to the Leica family of addicts! The D-Lux 4 is still a very handy camera to have. At times, I just stuff mine in my pocket and go out. Â Tri:)

wda Posted April 2, 2011 Share #7 Â Posted April 2, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Welcome to the Forum, hardcor! Don't decry the partnership camera (D-Lux 4); it is made to Leica specifications and has a wide range of capabilities. It will prove to be a good companion to your new X1 (better at macro). However the IQ of the X1 is in a different league. Â I use my D-Lux 5 in partnership with my X1; likewise, for serious travel or other projects, my X1 complements my M8/M9. However, the X1 is the quality camera I choose for most outings which are not 100% photographic. It is a highly competent little camera, enhanced with the latest firmware upgrade. hardcor Posted April 5, 2011 Author Share #10 Â Posted April 5, 2011 Thanks everybody for taking the time to responce on my first letter. I do have a question about the thumb up support on the X1? I was wondering if any are out there that have used it and if it makes a big difference? Thanks again and it feels great knowing other people are out there with the same passion and believe. ChiILX1 Posted April 5, 2011 Share #11 Â Posted April 5, 2011 Sure! Â The Thumbs Up is the best accessory for the X1 IMO. If you search this forum you'll find a couple threads I started on it where it's discussed extensively. Â Cheers,
