Yes, this little gadget is now good enough for me to buy it as well.

I had a X1 before, but sold it again, but with the new Firmware, I bought a new one yesterday again, and I can tell you that I will now be selling my M8.2 with some lenses.

Picture quality is superb, and nearly comparable with the M8.

so, go for it is my message as well!

Yes.

Never noticed images were flat, but they are very good.

I had a DL4, the X1 gives much better images. Everything I view at 100% is sharp as a tack.

Did I was yes?

Yes

Please do not sell your M8 and especially not lenses. One day I am sure you will miss them and selling cameras/lenses is like buying & selling cars- one always loses out. Your lens replacement costs will be horrific. M8 allows you to do so much more and gives greater control and detail. X1 is very good and more portable but still not an M.

Maybe keep the lenses, but yes, sell the body. Then later you can buy an M9 or newer.

The Leica shop in Mayfair London is updating all the firmware in their X1 stock too. Doesnt take much effort and only what I would expect from a Leica dealer.

Have fun with your new camera and enjoy your trip.
