I will be going to China later this year and want to know if my M8 charger (the "brick") will work there as is, or if I have to buy some sort of adapter. Twice I tried asking Schmidt Marketing, Leica's Chinese distributor, and all they told me was where I can buy a charger or get one repaired while in China.

I will be mainly in Guilin and nearby areas. Thanks.

As I recall, the "brick" came with 3 original outlet prongs right? A european 2 round prongs, a triple pronged one and a third one. One of them is suitable for use in China.

As for electric current, it needs no adapter.

I work in Shenzhen and the normal wall outlet has both a "thin" 2 prong and Chinese 3 prong "triangle" style fixture. The 2 prong will sometimes work with a US plug (where one prong is slightly wider) but it can be very tight. The easiest thing to do is buy a power strip in China, as they accommodate every plug on earth and you can charge all your electronic items. Very handy for travel back and forth from Hong Kong. As mentioned above voltage is not a problem.

It really depends. In general, most plugs in China are quite versatile, with the ability to accept most plugs from around the world as is without the use of any adaptors. But I still do suggest traveling with a Universal adapter just in case.
