Unfortunately, I can't find a proper size filter from local shop.  Thanks for sharing. Duke

JeTexas Posted March 28, 2011 Share #9 Â Posted March 28, 2011 Buy an old Canon FD or Nikon zoom lens on eBay, remove the outer element and glue a step-down ring onto it to attach it to your lens tube. It's much higher quality glass than what is found in these cheap Chinese/Japanese macro filters.

They are lenses that go on like filters. There is a set of three at those varying intensities, but Hoya also makes a +10 and a +20. Check out eBay. Here is an auction that gives close-ups (I'm not affiliated with the seller and don't know if it's the cheapest) Hoya 49mm Close-Up Filter Macro Set (+1+2+4) 49 mm bn68 - eBay (item 270720346998 end time Apr-14-11 03:12:15 PDT)  I had been eyeing them but decided to think more about whether I don't shoot macro because I won't or because I can't (with the X1) when you started this thread.  Here's a + 10: http://cgi.ebay.com/Boxed-Hoya-49mm-Macro-Close-Up-10-Filter-/360354989856?pt=UK_CamerasPhoto_CameraAccessories_CameraLensesFilters_JN&hash=item53e6d4c720#ht_500wt_1150  And here's a sweet bargain lot!!!!! http://cgi.ebay.com/Lot-10-HOYA-49mm-filters-box-/280639441671?pt=Camera_Filters&hash=item41576a0b07#ht_2398wt_1135  Buy an old Canon FD or Nikon zoom lens on eBay, remove the outer element and glue a step-down ring onto it to attach it to your lens tube.  JeTexas I'm sure you're right that they are great but Hoya isn't cheap and they are excellent quality. Leica uses, or at least used to, use some of their elements and their filters are regarded as some of the best. I would pause to lump Hoya into any homogenous "cheap x nationality" group and I'm sure if you used them you would quickly recognize that too.
