Looking at sites that have done controlled tests against the X1, I have concluded the IQ is marginally better than that of the X1

I'm sure that we've been looking at the same sites with processed images but to call then "controlled" is stretching the language.

Any URLs I may have missed to support your conclusion?:)

Nice to hear your comments about the speed ; that seems good.

I can only think of one direct head to head, and the x1 used was either broken, set wrong, or the fix was in. I've seen better shots from many pas than that comparison showed from the x1.

Still I hope the iq is better, that would be great.

That is neither fact nor necessarily accurate projection. You fall prey to the same erroneous thinking that think a fixed price + fee contract is a worse deal for the contractor than a fixed price bid. It isn't percentage of value that matters. It's dollars that count. If the X100 lost 50% of its value and the X1 lost 25% the dollar loss would be about the same and that is what comes out of your pocket, not percentages.

Right now X1's are selling on eBay for about 25% below MSRP and X100s are selling for about 210% of MSRP. In a year, assuming Fuji gets their production issues worked out the X100 will probably be selling for about 25% below MSRP on eBay and the X1 probably at 40 to 50% of MSRP so the X100 owner will still be ahead.

This is a mistake, i can only speak for europe and here Leicas are only sold in special stores, not in big media markets like the fujis,canons.... Leica has a fixed price for the X1 of 1550 Euro, the Fuji will be facing the normal price battle cause it will be offerd in price search websites and media markets, that means the price for a new device will drop and if this happen the price for a used one is even below! The X1 after a year is still 1550 Euro, i bet the X100 after a year will be maybe 600 Euro at a price search machine and the ebay price for used models will be way below it after 1,5 years. You cant compare the situation now with the normal situation, the X100 ebay price is high cause of the tsunami

I hate to break it to you but your theory is so full of crap it isn't funny. First, I have seen plenty of X1s selling in the 1200 Euro price right on this forum. Second, ask the M8 owners of they are getting even 50% of MSRP. For the amount they have lost I could buy and throw away 2 X100s.

I also sold my X1 to get the Fuji but I can't say I disliked the x-1. The biggest factor for me was lack of a viewfinder. I used an external viewfinder but that's not always convenient with an autofocus. Also I wear glasses and the voigtlander finder I used, while nice optically, didn't have the right eye relief. Ultimately I sold it because I couldn't justify owning both financially.

Speed was secondary for me but I agree with John that the X100 seems quite a bit faster (but only based on a few dozen shots since I've only just got it.) Image quality, I don't know. My first impression is the X100 lens doesn't have the distortion of the X1, but maybe that's corrected in the Jpegs. I haven't processed any raw files yet.

Ironically, the first effect of using the X100 has made me want to go back to my M9. I really long for a smaller, cheaper Leica digital rangefinder. Maybe the X2?

These are all very interesting information. Thank you.

It's hillarious that it took 7 posts to turn this into the same old thread of X1 bashing that has existed since the X1 came out.

Sometimes I don't know why I visit.

Sometimes I wonder why Leica still links here.

It's remarkable how many folks who no longer own the X1 feel so compelled to be here, blathering away. Seems their purchases since still haven't filled the void. I mean really, isn't there a nice Fuji forum to go rant on? I wonder how long it will be after the honeymoon period before they start complaining there, and that forum gets sick of them....

Who cares... good riddance just stop posting here about your X100 or let's see some of these amazing shots that camera takes. You're all wasting time and money switching cameras. You bought or didn't buy an X1 knowing it's flaws. Let's stop beating a dead horse and take some pictures... speaking of pictures... here's one I took recently:

Captured with that insanely slow AF...

Not even sure why the X100 converts still even hang out here.
