Advertisement Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Hi davyluvzizgravy, Take a look here D2 New Sensor query. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ho_co Posted March 21, 2011 Share #2 Posted March 21, 2011 As long as it's working, don't worry. I promise, you'll know. There were some cases reported here where the pictures developed strange colors and shapes, as if someone had been messing with them in Photoshop. In my case, I simply started seeing nothing in the finder or on the screen. The background was black, with all the settings information superimposed. When you see the sensor going (or gone), send the camera to Leica. In my case, the camera was returned in two to three weeks, IIRC. Since Sony has admitted that a batch of the cameras had bad sensors, they are replacing them at no charge. Some people on the forum reported image problems that Leica traced to causes other than the failing sensor. In those cases, Leica will send an estimate outlining the work to be done and the charges. If you approve the charges and authorize the repair, the camera will be fixed and returned to you with a one-year warranty. I don't know how big the batch of defective sensors was, but not all Digilux 2's had the type that developed a problem. Yours may not need replacement.
