jamesm1291 Posted March 16, 2011 Share #1 Posted March 16, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have been using the new m mount voigtlander 12 mm lens on my M8. I have also installed a UV/IR cut filter. I see none of the vignetting and peripheral cyan shifts that have been described for this lens. My pictures are excellent. Should I attribute this to the 1.33 crop factor, which reduces the periphery covered by the full frame M9. If so, this is a real plus for using the M 8 in ultra wide angle photography. Also, another question. I experienced trouble using the Leica SF 24 D flash on my M 8 set to automatic mode before I coded my Voigtlander lenses with the Match Tech kit. Since I coded the lenses, the flash seems to work well in the auto setting. Does the coding affect function of this flash?

ho_co Posted March 17, 2011 Share #2 Posted March 17, 2011 James, thanks for the report. It's the first I've seen for the bayonet-mount CV 12. Sounds good! I use the screw-mount version of the Heliar 12mm on my M8 quite successfully. Sometimes the vignetting and color-shifts don't seem very noticeable, but I do frequently use CornerFix with it, and that seems to put more zip into even images that I didn't think needed correction. In other words, the scene makes a difference, so you might want to try CornerFix to see if it makes you even happier with the lens.. As for the SF24D, I use flash only very seldom, so I haven't had any directly applicable experience. The flash does receive focal length information from the camera, so the lens coding might indeed make a difference. I would think it might not in manual mode, but it's not surprising if it does in auto. We do have some very competent users of flash around, so you can expect some comments from them. James, I use the old version of the CV 12 with the adapter and found, thanks to a friend, the perfect combo for this lens. I've bought a CV 12 filter holder from John Milich and then put on it a 52 mm B+W filter 489 IR cut filter (not an UV/IR). Since then I can almost use this lens as a point and shoot camera, no vignetting at all, great colours and also no need to use Cornerfix. The 52mm 489 filter is not very easy to find (I found it at Adorama after a while) but is really worth it.
chounws Posted June 16, 2011 Share #4 Posted June 16, 2011 Jamesm1296 I'm using Leica UV/IR filter 67mm on the Heliar 12 mm f5.6 ASPH (M mount) but found very strange bluist color around the edge of the picture, it seem to me that the filter is too thick. Since I'm new to M8 with this lens, which filter you using. Thanks, Choun
epand56 Posted June 16, 2011 Share #5 Posted June 16, 2011 James, these are the results of the CV 12 with my filter configuration on the M8. This is just out of the camera, no Cornerfix or else.
