elsdad Posted March 12, 2011 Share #1 Posted March 12, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi I have tried searching the forums and can't find any help. I am new to M9 and still unsure about storage and cases etc. I know some Leica lenses come with cases but many used lenses and other brands Zeiss for example does not. So how do you store lenses? Should they be allowed to float free in a camera bag or should they be in a pouch in the bag? Does anyone wear one of those lens cases on their belt. pico Posted March 12, 2011 Share #2 Posted March 12, 2011 I use lens wraps. There's dozens of kinds. Google 'lens wrap'.
wda Posted March 12, 2011 Share #3 Posted March 12, 2011 Steve, much depends on whether you choose to use a system bag of some kind. Those designed for modern digital system cameras have perfectly adequate partitions and protection for naked lenses. In that situation there is no need to add individual lens cases. If you are shooting with just the body with one lens fitted and another as alternative, that one does need its own protection. If you intend to keep the spare lens in a jacket pocket, a lens wrap can suffice but you need to move around with care and avoid any impact on that lens. On balance, I think I would always choose to use a small system bag.
michael_b_elmer Posted March 12, 2011 Share #4 Posted March 12, 2011 Leica's own cases (and lens pouches) are excellent. Go to Leica Camera AG - Photography - Accessories
otto.f Posted March 12, 2011 Share #5 Posted March 12, 2011 Naked in the bag, that is why we bought Leica lenses. And of course for the fact that second hand prices are higher if you stored your boxes and pouches so that they look like new. All Leica prices are not just about the best glass and optics there is, it's also about durability, thtis counts even for the Summarit range comparing to Zeiss or Voigtländer
