microview Posted March 10, 2011 Share #1 Posted March 10, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Have just bought 35 Summarit. Delighted with optics/ergonomics but have reservations about the push-on lens cap. Do any owners use the E39 clip-on plastic type instead. Or is there a risk of scratching face of front element? (Its curved face seems very near to the plane of the inner ring surrounding the glass.) Obviously, one would need to remove the outer screw-on ring to get the seating depth for the lens cap. Look forward to some advice here. Thank you.....

kkochheiser Posted March 10, 2011 Share #2 Posted March 10, 2011 I mostly use the hood with it's own cap but the few times I've used the standard push-on cap I've had no problems. Kent
microview Posted March 11, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted March 11, 2011 My query is based on a concern that at some time a grit particle might lodge in the plush lining of the push-on cap and scratch the lens finish. Would prefer to substitute the E35 clip-on type (if it cleared the lens glass).
