Fujifilm faces shortage of X100 large-sensor camera: Digital Photography Review I don't understand it this fuji camera surely is not designed to fit in your pocket. why is leica concerned this much? just release the freakin' firmware already.it's been two whole years and the distance numbers on the screen are still wrong! andybarton Posted March 9, 2011 Share #2 Posted March 9, 2011 How can you interpret that the firmware will be in April from that news, which has nothing to do with Leica at all?
gilgabo Posted March 9, 2011 Share #3 Posted March 9, 2011 I interpret it to mean that the X2 is around the corner.
Allnm Posted March 9, 2011 Share #4 Posted March 9, 2011 I interpret it to mean that the X2 is around the corner. Or X1.2 Or, more probably, nothing. Allan
patrick parker Posted March 9, 2011 Author Share #5 Posted March 9, 2011 Ok here's the deal. Leica already developed the new firmware. The only thing keeping them from releasing is the fuji x100 you can tell from the name and the retro features thatt x100 is there to steal the x1 market. In sites like dpreview the x100 will be comared to x1 , fixed 35 mm lens, same sensor size, low light capability etc. X1 needs to be somewhat comparable and at this point apart from the image quality it's terribly weak. The longer they can wait to release the firmware the better they have a chance of getting thread that reads " long awaited x1 firmware..." . This way a better chance of comparison and a reintroduction of x1 to anyone who is intigued with the fuji camera. I hate this crap. X1 is a faulty camera and leica has to stop this game and release the firmware already.
andybarton Posted March 9, 2011 Share #6 Posted March 9, 2011 The X1 isn't faulty. It might benefit from a firmware update, but then so could most cameras. That doesn't make it faulty.
Douglasco Posted March 9, 2011 Share #7 Posted March 9, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Patrick you need to understand one thing the X1 is not two years old, I had one of the first ones in the U.K and I have had it one year and one week. second thing Leica will not give a dam what camera fuji bring out, If you think the X1 is a faulty camera and you own one then you have made the wrong choice in your purchase. Ofcourse it's faulty , try using the manual focus ,the distance numerics are all wrong. At low light the image flickers. These can probably be fixed the new firmware. There is nothing they can do about the first badge that came with bad battery covers and loose dials. I expect a letter of apology with the new firmware. Nope. The wrong choice would have been sigma dp2 at the time. Leica wouldn't have given a damn in the 80's , but up until this year they were struggling to survive. Now why wouldn't an internationally known small company who finally showed some profits not give damn what his big competitors is up to?

patrick parker Posted March 9, 2011 Author Share #11 Posted March 9, 2011 If your camera is faulty, why didn't you send it back for a refund? I didn't say my camera was faulty, i said the whole series were faulty.if you look at the older x1 threads this will be confirmed. " mine has the same problem " is probably the most uttered sentence on the x1 forum. But why would you ask this anyway you are a moderator on this site. Casual questions suits us much better don't you think?

phancj Posted March 10, 2011 Share #19 Posted March 10, 2011 Nope, sorry to say it is the incessant threads started which has absolutely no relevance whatsoever to anything most of here could remotely be interested in, more importantly the lack of any real relevant information to share. The X1 works fine. It is not defective. I use it all the time. If the Fw gets released and makes it better, great. Whatever. I know what I bought when I bought it. Why is the inability to shoot photos linked to the Firmware? Not this thread particularly but I seriously feel from reading many posts it almost appears as if the X1 is incapable of taking photos at all. h00ligan Posted March 10, 2011 Share #20 Posted March 10, 2011 Even as someone who feels the x1 may be too slow for a daily camera for me.. I do agree, it's just getting depressing and silly - particularly on dpreview where the x100 is being hailed as the Second Coming.. a bit ridiculous considering the samples are mixed, the camera is delayed (for marketing reasons imo), and only silkypix is developing raws...
