canetsbe Posted March 11, 2011 Share #21 Posted March 11, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sounds like you made a good choice. The 24mm lines in the M8 are tough to see anyway. I was having the same dilemma as you but I scooped up an exc. 28 elmarit IV this morning for what seems a good price (more than $600 less than the asph and can't wait to slap it on the M8 next week! deirdre Posted March 12, 2011 Share #23 Posted March 12, 2011 The 28 ASPH Elmarit is, I think, my favorite lens, and I've decided to get one. Well, really, I decided a long time ago.
Sailronin Posted March 12, 2011 Share #24 Posted March 12, 2011 I love my 24mm Elmar f3.8 Probably 50% of all my Leica photos are with that lens on my M8, remainder of use divided between 15mm Heliar, 35mm Color-skopar (just sold w/ M6), 50mm summicron and 90mm summicron. On the M8 it is 32mm so about the perfect combo for walk around use.
ramosa Posted March 12, 2011 Share #25 Posted March 12, 2011 I guess there are three factors-- size, speed, and focal length. The 28 is best in the first two, while focal length is a matter of preference. I have the 28 and am quite satisfied. The slowest lens I would ponder (for how I shoot) is a 2.8. In the future, any new lenses I get will be even faster than that.
